Sticky Willy is a high-concept animated comedy for teen and adult audiences.

In 1897 renowned spiritualist William Fartwell found himself on the pointy end of a pitchfork. Serves him right for touting his metaphysical cobblers to the fundamentalist Christians who used to cultivate pigs hereabouts. He was laid to rest with all the other heretics up on Mary Claggot's Mound, the spot marked only by a young sapling, bent against the wind. And that was the end of him.

One hundred and some-odd years later a fine tall oak, standing atop the same muddy hillock - where the municipal playground has since been erected - is blown to bits by a massive lightning storm, leaving just a tangle of charred wood. By some unlikely miracle the huge burst of energy has done much more than render kindling: the souls of the long buried dead have been reinvigorated, not least William Fartwell.

His 'being', or whatever, has been blasted into the nearest organic vessel and he rises, like some low-rent Pinnochio - a travesty of twisted branch and trembling twig. And thus, Sticky Willy is born. Unfortunately his ability to channel the dead has also been restored, and that's likely to prove problematic...

Halfdown West - Willy's new home - and the people and stories we find there create a frenetic patchwork of soap opera, adventure, parody and horror nonsense, grounded by the familiar tropes of animated sitcom, with periodic excursions into the macabre. Willy's fish out of water origin story allows us to scrutinise modern life from an unfamiliar perspective and unpack some of the benefits and detriments of the here and now. And whilst none of this is taken too seriously, there is often an excoriating strand of satire beneath the surface.
