Glissy is an Edible Dormouse, although she doesn’t like to dwell on the edible part. She’s finished college and is headed for The Beech - a huge old tree on the banks of the Revir Tewgib, where the branches bustle with culture and opportunity lies under every leaf. She’s intent on bringing her expertise in sustainable foraging to the community - but her aspirations are quickly forestalled.

Kowan Woon, the weather owl - who is never wrong - predicts the mother of all storms, which will turn the Tewgib into a raging torrent and undermine the tree’s roots. The residents are panicking and society is splintering into fractious groups. Glissy finds herself on the fringes and must fight prejudice, politics and fear in order to mobilise the citizens of The Beech and save their ancient home.
